SK rent-a-car is going to usher in a new era of long-term electric vehicle rental service.
 
SK rent-a-car announced on the 10th that it would open preorders for long-term rental of new cars. This event features four types of EVs including Hyundai IONIC 5, Tesla’s Model 3 (Long Range) and Model 5 (Long Range), and EV6 to be launched by Kia this month.

These cars are gaining popularity from EV users including Hyundai IONIC 5 as ‘E-GMP’-based model, a next generation platform dedicated to EVs.

This model is the most popular one hitting a record high in terms of the number of preorders among domestic models on the very first day of the advance reservation before the roll-out of the deal in February. SK rent-a-car joins hands with carmakers. And the event comes with abundant benefits such as early car delivery, discounted rental rates and free short-term EV rental.

Customers who place preorders for the eligible cars can receive Tesla Model 3 from April, IONIC 5 from May and Tesla Model Y from July. The company plans to deliver Kia’s EV6 to customers within the second half of this year. (※ Vehicle delivery schedule is subject to change due to carmakers’ circumstances)

Furthermore, the company will select a total of 400 customers (100 for each model respectively) who place an order and pick up the vehicle to give them benefits ranging from a KRW 500,000 discount to a free 48-hour EV rental available at Jeju branch.

With the purpose of gratifying customers’ curiosity about EVs as well as offering a wider range of options, the company is planning a ‘test drive’ event in time for the releases of each model. It aims to provide the experiences of driving the vehicles so that customers can make informed decisions.

An SK rent-a-car official said, “we listen to customers’ needs that they want to experience EV models to be newly launched. And that is why we organize this event.” He also added, “as part of efforts to gear up for the era of EV commercialization, we are going to roll out various rental models and promote more experience events such as test drive.”
