SK rent-a-car (CEO: Hwang Il-moon) made an announcement on the 14th that it signed an agreement with Yangpyeong County Office on the expanded supply of ‘G-Smartlink,’ the comprehensive vehicle management solution for public institutions.

G-Smartlink provides the vehicle management service optimized for public institutions, taking advantage of real-time diving data. This service is the optimized version of ‘Smartlink,’ the comprehensive vehicle management solution developed based on its source technology. Especially, this cloud platform-based solution provides a more advanced data protection environment. In recognition of the high level of security, the company obtained CSAP (Cloud Security Certification System) certification in the sector of SaaS from KISA for the first time in the industry last December.

Based on this agreement, SK rent-a-car will install IoT devices to collect driving data as well as vehicle conditions in 270 general and 87 special-purpose vehicles operated by Yangpyeong County Office to provide its G-Smartlink solution,

Since January 2021, the county office has used this service for its 30 business vehicles. Given the high satisfaction level for the service among employees, the county has decided to conclude the agreement to expand the supply with SK rent-a-car. And it expanded the infrastructure with the aim of advancing its vehicle operation. In detail, it built an extension for an outdoor parking area and parking tower to accommodate a total of 284 cars, and stepped up its vehicle assistance office and charging facilities for EVs.

An official at the county office said, “we have an extensive administrative district, so we run many business vehicles for quick travel.” And he added, “we used to manage vehicles by division, but G-Smartlink enables us to comprehensively manage all vehicles, which leads to higher work efficiency. We expect the use of this service to provide more convenient administrative services for our residents.”

Yangpyeong County Office will use ‘Car Sharing’, one of G-Smartlink services, to raise its business car operation rate as well as to enhance convenience. The service allows users to grasp the operation status of all vehicles in real-time, and also to book and return a vehicle through the mobile app. Mobile door control function is also one of the advantage that this solution offer, which means users do not need to manage the car key.

G-Smartlink’s ‘Vehicle Management’ service will also be utilized. This function enables users to grasp detailed driving data including driving distance, driving time, driving pattern and fuel information. Based on this data, drivers can know when to inspect the vehicle, which makes systematic customized management possible. Furthermore, it provides the vehicle operation log in the same form as the one used by Yangpyeong County Office, which saves time and costs.

In addition, the county office is considering the use of G-Smartlink’s ‘Fleet Scheduler’ that guides drivers to optimal routes based on real-time traffic data. For special-purpose vehicles that covers diverse destinations at once, such as daily waste or food waste collection trucks, this scheduler will be of service.

SK rent-a-car said, “This agreement with Yangpyeong County Office on G-Smartlink supply expansion is a clear demonstration that our solution highly satisfies users, which is a remarkable progress on occupying the public market. Going forward, we will refine G-Smartlink so that more and more public institutions use this service in a more convenient manner.”

In April, SK rent-a-car registered its G-Smartlink in the Korea ON-line E-Procurement System (KONEPS) of the Public Procurement Service, aiming to raise convenience and user accessibility to its comprehensive automobile management solution. A number of public institutions nationwide, including Yangpyeong County Office, Gapyeong County Office, and Gimhae City Hall, are using G-Smartlink by conveniently making contracts through KONEPS.
