2022-10-20

- Mutual cooperation in developing new businesses, including the advancement of EV charging services
- Joint development of various services that enhance charging convenience by expanding coverage by connecting 9,000 charging networks of 'Humax EV' with SK rent-a-car's EV-specialized service 'EV Link'
- “We will take the lead in the eco-friendly EV-oriented mobility business by capitalizing on the expertise and know-how accumulated over 30 years of both companies”

SK rent-a-car (CEO: Hwang Il-moon) announced on the 20th that it would collaborate the eco-friendly EV mobility services with a mobility platform company, HUMAX (CEO: Kim Tae-hoon), aiming at raising the convenience of customers using electric vehicles.

Both companies signed an agreement on the 19th at HUMAX headquarters located in Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, for a 'business partnership for the advancement of EV-related services and the cooperation in new mobility businesses.' The Head of SK rent-a-car's Mobility BM Development Lab, Kim Hyun-soo, and the head of HUMAX's affiliate business office, Shim Jae-yeol, attended the signing ceremony.

HUMAX is an integrated mobility platform company, which provides services, such as EV charging (Humax EV), vehicle sharing (People Car, Carplat), and parking facilities (Humax Parcs) based on parking lot operation (Hi Parking), a mobility hub. Currently, it offers a comprehensive charging solution encompassing charger development and manufacturing, service, and integrated platform operation in the field of EV charging. It is recently expanding its connection project for its bases in the mobility sector.

SK rent-a-car and HUMAX plan to collaborate in expanding charging service coverage, jointly developing relevant services to maximize charging convenience, such as on-site charging, and developing other new mobility services, aiming to increase customer value with diverse mobility services for electric vehicles.

First, the two companies will further raise charging accessibility for customers using electric vehicles. They will enlarge the charging coverage by converging the charging network of Humax EV, operated by HUMAX, with SK rent-a-car's EV-dedicated service package, 'EV Link.' Humax EV is one of the 'top 5' EV charging companies in Korea that currently operates approximately 9,000 chargers.

EV Link, launched in September by SK rent-a-car, provides essential services for EV operation, such as charging, parking, car washing, and maintenance, for customers driving electric vehicles. In particular, one charging card enables the convenient use of about 50,000 chargers nationwide operated by major domestic charging companies such as Korea Electric Power Corporation, Ministry of Environment, Everon, Chargev, and Korea Electric Vehicle Charging Service.

The two firms also plan to cooperate in various businesses, such as door-to-door charging and payment convenience services, in order to increase charging convenience for EV users. On top of that, they decided to continue the partnership in multiple fields so that SK rent-a-car customers can use diverse mobility services such as parking, charging, and car washing operated by HUMAX.

An official from SK rent-a-car said, “we will exchange our expertise and know-how accumulated over the past 30 years, taking the lead in the mobility business centered on eco-friendly electric vehicles. Going forward, we will continue to improve customer value by continuing various collaborations and affiliations to offer quality mobility services.”

A HUMAX official said, “we expect to create a profound synergy by combining the potential of the EV charging business of both companies with various mobility platform services, parking, and car-sharing services.” He added, “we will actively contribute to creating an eco-friendly mobility ecosystem by identifying a number of new businesses for both companies.”
