SK rent-a-car obtained the industry’s first anti-corruption management system, ISO37001 global certification

SK rent-a-car, which published the industry's first sustainability report in May for enhancing transparent communication with various stakeholders, obtained a global certification in the anti-corruption area for the first time in the industry, thereby raising the reliability of its ethical management system.


SK rent-a-car (CEO: Hwang Il-moon) announced on the 10th that it held a ceremony at the Samil Building in Jongno, Seoul on the 9th, attended by its CEO Hwang Il-moon and BSI Group Korea CEO Lim Seong-hwan, and it obtained the 'anti-corruption management system (ISO37001) certification' from the British Standards Institution (BSI).


The British Royal Standards Institution is the world's first national standard-setting organization and a renowned British royal organization established in 1901, which took the lead in founding the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).


ISO37001 is an anti-corruption management system standard established by ISO in 2016 based on the consensus of the international community to prevent corruption in organizations. Korea enforced the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act in September of the same year, followed by more companies acquiring certifications from various domestic and foreign certification agencies.


For the certification, SK rent-a-car selected an internal _uator in June to identify and prevent corruption risks within the organization, and discovered and _uated possible risks in each department. It made company-wide efforts by establishing an anti-corruption management system that complies with the certification criteria. In addition, it newly enacted anti-corruption guidelines to create a fair and transparent corporate culture through the deliberation of its ESG Committee within the company's Board of Directors.

In recognition of these endeavors, SK rent-a-car obtained ISO 37001 certification. Following the acquisition, it will undergo follow-up management audits once a year and certification renewal audits every three years.


SK rent-a-car plans to operate the existing ethical management activities in a more systematic manner by monitoring ethical and integrity activities within the company and developing and improving performance indicators. Besides, the company plans to settle a culture of integrity through training its entire members and disseminating the anti-corruption culture internally and externally by sharing the basic principles of the company's anti-corruption policy with various stakeholders and encouraging them to participate.


An SK rent-a-car official said, "this certification is the fruition of the will and efforts of the CEO and members to eradicate corruption, and we expect that our reliability will be further enhanced for external stakeholders in terms of our ethical management system based on the internal system that meets international standards. As we advance, we will continue to practice transparent and sustainable ESG management."
