SpeedMate, a total car maintenance brand, has partnered with Kookje University to train future car maintenance experts. SK networks (President: Sang Kyu Park) announced on May 11 that it signed the ‘MOU for Academic-Industrial Collaboration between Kookje University and SpeedMate’ at Kookje University (Acting Chancellor: Jiwon Lim) in the presence of relevant stakeholders including Young Uk Chang, Head of SpeedMate Division and Vice Chancellor Jiwon Lim of Kookje University.

Under the MOU, SpeedMate and Kookje University will work together to prepare training programs and run systemized maintenance training sessions seeking to build a manpower development system for business and expand maintenance training infrastructure as well as manpower in response to the proliferation of future automotive.

For this, SpeedMate has agreed to share real maintenance cases collected from approximately 630 affiliated stores nationwide and support the development of practical manpower training curriculum. Additional collaboration will be undertaken to make use of the maintenance training infrastructure available at Kookje University so that SpeedMate mechanics can receive training related to future automotive from the faculty of Kookje University’s Department of Future Automotive and become able to offer quality customer service in the field.

Last year, the government announced that 7.85 million eco-friendly vehicles will be supplied by 2030 and the number of maintenance shops for EV and hydrogen vehicle will be increased to 3,300 by 2025. SpeedMate plans to actively respond to the government policy and market change in a proactive manner by having manpower and technology ready for future automotive maintenance.

Young Uk Chang, Head of SpeedMate Division said, “It is absolutely necessary to continuously improve our maintenance technology capability through systemized maintenance manpower development and R&D collaboration with experts so as to lead the future automotive maintenance industry in the upcoming era of Net Zero,” and added, “We will strive to build SpeedMate into a cradle of training the future mobility maintenance manpower through this MOU.”

Vice Chancellor Jiwon Lim of Kookje University commented, “We will provide support to set up a variety of training systems appropriate for the era of future automotive and facilitate the establishment of the national future automotive certification system.”
